School students injured in terrifying bus crash with Sydney bridge

Dozens of school students have been caught up in a terrifying accident as the bus they were travelling on crashed into a bridge in Sydney’s southwest.

The Canley Vale High School students were on their way home on Friday when the bus collided with a bridge on Prospect Road just after 3.30pm.

NSW Ambulance paramedics tended to 16 people to check for injuries, but only one male needed to be taken to hospital with cuts and bruises.

Police are currently at the scene talking with passengers on the bus to piece together how the crash took place.

7NEWS understands the accident unfolded during afterschool pick-up in front of horrified parents, who say the students – majority of whom are aged in their late teens – were lucky to escape without injury.

An investigation is underway.
